Meet David Bayley, Inn at El Gaucho Manager

As Tolkein noted, not all who wander are lost. Avid traveler David Bayley found his way home again in Seattle and as the new manager of the Inn at El Gaucho.

Known as Bayley to friends, David was born in Phoenixville, PA and moved to Seattle when he was 8 years old. After graduating from Bellevue HS in ’05, he began his hospitality career at Hotel 1000 in 2006. As a valet/bellman really felt a part of a community because the hotel also has permanent residents. He decided that hospitality was his calling so set off for college. Tulane was the plan but after Hurricane Katrina, he landed at UNLV because of their top-notch hospitality program. While in school, he interned at the Mondrian on the Sunset Strip and then moved to the Hard Rock Café after it was acquired by the Mondrian. David graduated in 2011 with a major in resort and lodging management. After graduation, he joined the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Vegas as a front desk agent and then joined the group reservations team where he’d work with anywhere between 20-40 groups per month.

David knew that he didn’t want to stay in Las Vegas to raise a family but wasn’t sure where to settle down so he packed up his Jeep and drove coast to coast logging 18,000 miles. After driving so much, he flew off to Asia and visited Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. As an avid soccer player, he traveled to Brazil for the World Cup and saw all 6 American matches.

After his world tour, he thought he might try the “ski bum” life while pursuing his hospitality career. He moved to Tahoe and worked for the Marriott Timberlodge, at the base of Heavenly. He had a fantastic time and met his girlfriend, Michelle. After the 2015 season, the couple moved back to Seattle to be close to family.

David’s hobbies are golf, snowboarding and soccer – in that order. He has a golf handicap of 10. In addition to seeing World Cups in South Africa and Brazil, David is an avid soccer player and is an active USFF referee and plays on adult leagues. One of his greatest accomplishments is his 7 on 7 team’s win at the Maccabi Games in St. Louis. Bayley is a fierce Sounder fan – his mom has been a season ticket holder since they became a part of the MLS and says the “Clink” is one of his favorite places. He also cheers for Arsenal. Never Manchester United.

Currently David and Michele and his dog Butters are living with his father on Fox Island but he is working to buy a house of his own. His dad is retired, his mom Jacquie lives in Bellevue and sister Daniella works for the Blarney Stone and lives on Queen Anne.

David is known for his quick wit and is an avid Seattle-ite (has never missed a Seafair). He has many friends who would describe him as positive and loyal.

He is most excited about working at the Inn because “the company is a part of Seattle’s history. Gaucho puts a smile on people’s face.” He says, “This is a fully rounded hospitality company that I am excited to be a part of.”
