A Word from Chad ~ May 2015

I’m writing this note with a big smile on my face, because it’s 82 degrees in Portland right now. I watched the Trailblazers win while enjoying a cigar and a bourbon in our newly remodeled cigar room. This incredible weather compels me to get back to the BBQ, and I shamelessly admit to being a “grill master.” I usually cook on my charcoal grill a few nights a week, rain or shine. But now, with summer knocking at our door, every meal cooked at our house will be prepared on the barbeque.

Of course, starting with a great product is key to becoming a maestro at the grill. In case you didn’t know, you can purchase steaks “to go” from any of our restaurants. When that’s not convenient, we’ve made a video with helpful tips on purchasing steak from the grocery store. If you’re feeling a little rusty at the grill, Chef Matt has a great grilling 101 video for those who need a few pointers.

The month of May brings us a special holiday – Mothers’ Day. We’d be honored to be a part of your celebration: both AQUA and Bellevue are offering brunch, and dinner service is offered at all of our restaurants.

We are excited to host two amazing wine events this spring, and you’ll want to add these to your calendar: El Gaucho Portland is hosting the DeLille Cellars Legacy Winemakers Dinner on June 10th, which will feature six stellar winemakers who all have roots in DeLille Cellars. Overnight packages are available if traveling from out of town.

Our 7th annual Legendary Swirl, which features over 30 of the top Washington, Oregon, and California wineries, is at El Gaucho Seattle May 16th, and offers exclusive winemaker dinners following the tasting portion. It’s a whole night of events not to miss.

In Tacoma, we’re thrilled to welcome the US Open at Chambers Bay. While we’re still six weeks away, we’ve already hosted golf media and notables at El Gaucho. Our private rooms are almost booked up for the week and the dining room is going to be hopping. If you’re thinking about reservations that week, I’d recommend making them now, as last minute is going to be tough.

And finally, new outdoor tables for both AQUA and Bellevue have been shipped and will arrive in the next couple of weeks. For deck dining in the Northwest, it doesn’t get any better than these two restaurants.
