El Gaucho Chefs Compete and Our Guests are the Winners!

Some of the best shows on television right now take place in the kitchen. Cooking shows – especially competition style shows – have become one of the must-watch genres on television today and with good reason. Whether celebrity chefs or novices, the race against the clock to create a perfectly cooked dish, beautifully presented, that tastes great before a panel of judges is fun, entertaining, and inspirational whether you enjoy cooking or simply eating.

Our five incredibly talented executive chefs from each of our restaurants like a little friendly competition, and decided to go head to head in similar style competitions. The result? Some incredibly mouth-watering and tasty dishes highlighting the best of what spring has to offer, featuring products we source from local suppliers, including Tonnemaker Farms, Taylor Shellfish, Anderson Ranch, and others.

All El Gaucho and AQUA restaurants will offer the dishes below through the end of June. Other unique items will be offered daily on our fresh sheets.

The competitions were not limited to new and seasonal items. The ambitious culinary teams also took on iconic menu items to see if they could improve on the tried and true Gaucho classics. It proved to be more difficult than expected, but a few modifications resulted: the wedge salad now includes Kalamata olives and pancetta, and the taro chips have been replaced with crispy fried wontons to accompany the ahi tuna tartare. We also brought back Veal Scallopini Marsala – an original Gaucho menu item.

The spring menu update features fresh local produce, as well as Anderson Ranch lamb from Oregon. The Lamb T-bone paired with the Side of Springtime, followed by the Strawberry-Rhubarb tart is a perfect way to celebrate spring. Our sommeliers have terrific recommendations to pair with each of these innovative dishes to create an incredible gastronomic experience.
