“Manners are a sensitive awareness of the feelings of others. If you have that awareness, you have good manners, no matter what fork you use.” ~ Emily Post
We live in the technological age, where screens have become our life! Work is no longer 9 am to 5pm. Gone are the “Mad Men” days of the two-hour martini lunch commiserating with co-workers. We now have the ability for products, food, and services to be delivered to us without leaving our house or even picking up the telephone. We can access thousands of petabytes of information instantaneously through the push of a button or the swipe of a screen.
While our digital contacts are increasing, our quality connections with other human beings seem to be doing the opposite. The decrease in human relations has, unfortunately, brought with it the demise of some of our “manners.”
Through this cultural shift, and over a span of just a few generations, we seem to have lost a bit of our polish. Our general know-how on navigating our interactions with others with grace and a dash of confidence has gone the way of the dinosaur.
We want to help change that, and bring back a bit of the past. El Gaucho Hospitality is happy to announce that we are taking on an “etiquette revolution.” We believe it’s time to bring back some civility and grace: the era of gentlemen opening doors, helping a lady into the car, or simply saying please and thank you. The holiday season will soon be upon us, and there is no better time to brush up on approaches and techniques to help us stay posh in the modern world.
