May the Force be With You!
My wife, Jenny, and I had a great time the other day taking my two boys to see Star Wars. I was way behind the eight ball and didn’t get my tickets early to see it at the IMAX or Cinerama, so we ventured out to a new theater for a different experience – the Anderson School in Bothell.
The McMenamin brothers overhauled an old, run down building and revitalized it to include a hotel, restaurants, theatre and swimming pool. The outdoor wood fire pits and unique art are a nice touch. They’ve added another jewel to their eclectic collection that is worth checking out.
Experiencing this new space made me reminisce about the building that houses El Gaucho Seattle at First and Wall. Over the course of almost twenty years, we have helped revitalize Belltown by turning the original Sailors Union of the Pacific building into a restaurant, hotel, theater, and special event space. You can read more about the history of the building and the changes that have taken place on our website.
Our venture out made for a great day, and seeing Star Wars was an awesome way to top it off. It was entertaining to see my boys connect with the series and, I have to admit, it was fun to relive watching my first Star Wars movie when I was, coincidentally, the same age as my youngest son.
There is a line from Star Wars, “You can’t stop change any more than you can stop the suns from setting.” As we enter into a new year, here’s to embracing rediscovery, revitalization, hope and celebration.
Until Next Time,
